The impressive Cranach House Markt 4 (bought in 1512 by Lucas Cranach the Elder) is accessible again since 1998. A gem of (interior) architecture welcomes the visitors in renewed glory after careful, sensitive and painstaking restoration.
Many generations have lived here over the centuries and left their mark. The rooms tell you something about their history and way of life. Each room is a witness. Even the magnificent entrance of the house and the large staircase capture the attention of the visitor. Ceiling paintings from the Cranach workshop and stucco decorations in the Baroque style are witness to the richness and beauty perception of other eras.
The current use continues the tradition of Cranach, because they have opened the art spaces for new development.
